The St Philips building was a former workhouse, venereal disease hospital, refugee facility and university building, which stood on Sheffield Street until May 2011. In the weeks before its demolition - with knobs disappearing from the doors and a new light pouring in from the bare windows - the St Philips Exhibition moved in, staging a show of over 25 new works and a programme of public events.
